Why convert HEIC to JPG?

HEIC is Apple's default photo format on iPhone since iOS 11. It's half the size of JPG at the same quality — excellent for device storage. The problem comes when you share: Windows, Android (older versions), most browsers and tons of other software can't open HEIC. Converting HEIC to JPG solves that in one step, with no loss of visible quality.

Frequently asked questions

Will the JPG look worse than the HEIC?

No. At quality 85 the output is visually identical to the HEIC original. The file will be larger though, since JPG is less efficient than HEIC.

Is HEIC to JPG conversion lossy?

Yes technically, because both formats are lossy. But the perceptual quality loss is undetectable to the eye at default settings.

Does the converter handle Live Photos?

Only the still image component is extracted. The Live Photo video is stored separately on your iPhone and isn't inside the HEIC file.

Can I batch convert HEIC files from my iPhone?

Yes — select multiple photos from your Photos app, share them, and drop them all in at once (up to 10 per batch).

Does the HEIC converter work on Windows?

Yes — our converter runs in any modern browser, so Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android and Linux all work the same way. No plug-in required.
